Vietnam’s weather varies depending on the region. Best time to visit the North & South regions is the dry season: Nov – Apr. For the Central region: mid Jan – late Aug.
Currency & Tipping
Vietnam’s local currency is Vietnamese Dong (VND) with credit/debit cards accepted at major tourist areas. Cash is essential for local vendors, market stalls and rural areas. Tipping is optional.
Time Zone
Vietnam is GMT + 7 hours and does not have daylight savings.
Language
Vietnamese is the official language. Some English is spoken in tourist areas. Learning a few Vietnamese phrases is always a plus!
Transport
Use only reputable taxis – Mai Linh or Vinasun. Beware of copy-cats. Instead of Uber, there’s Grab or Gojek. In the city, try the cycle rickshaw (cyclo). For cross-country travel, use a sleeper bus or train. Or catch a plane.
