Thai Weather & Seasons

Thailand has two distinct seasons, wet and dry. Best time to visit is in the dry season: North & Central (Nov - Feb), Andaman Sea Coast (Nov – Apr), Gulf of Thailand (Jan – Aug).

Currency & Tipping

Thailand’s local currency is Thai Baht (THB) with credit/debit cards accepted at major tourist areas. Cash is essential for local vendors, market stalls and rural areas. Tipping is optional.

Time Zone

Thailand is GMT + 7 hours and does not have daylight savings.

Language

Thai is the official language, but English is widely spoken in tourist areas. Learning a few Thai phrases is always a plus!

Transport

Taxi, tuk-tuk or motorbike taxis in Thailand are popular and cheap but always barter the fare beforehand. Also avail: ride-share apps (Grab, Bolt, InDrive), private drivers for city tours & private yacht charters.

Shopping

A shopper’s paradise. If you’re into haggling, visit street markets for bargains on local wares & souvenirs. Visit larger shopping centres for international branded goods.

Cuisine

Thailand is a food lover’s paradise with regional specialties - spicy curries of the south, fragrant dishes of the north, seafood-rich cuisine of the east coast. Night markets and street vendors offer tasty options too.
