The climate in Bali, Indonesia is tropical, characterised by high temperatures and high humidity throughout the year. It has two distinct seasons Dry Season (Apr - Oct): Ideal for beach activities and water sports (27-32°C). Wet Season (Nov - Mar): Expect heavy rains and high humidity.
Currency & Tipping
Bali's local currency is Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) with credit/debit cards accepted at major tourist areas. Cash is essential for local vendors, market stalls and rural areas. Tipping is optional.
Time Zone
Bali is GMT + 8 hours and does not have daylight savings.
Language
There are three main languages spoken in Bali – Balinese, Indonesian and English. Learning a few Balinese or Indonesian words is always handy!
Transport
Travelling by taxi or motorbike in Bali are inexpensive but always barter on the fare beforehand. Ride-share apps such as Grab or Gojek are popular. Hiring a private car and driver for the day is also common, which gives you the freedom to curate your own itinerary.
Shopping
Bali is a shopper’s haven. If you’re into haggling, visit street markets and side stalls to get bargains on local handicrafts and souvenirs. Larger shopping centres are available for those looking for international branded goods. However, prices at these venues are not flexible.
Cuisine
Bali is a foodie paradise with a wide selection of award-winning fine dining. But we highly recommend eating at 'warungs' - small eateries serving traditional Balinese cuisines.
Dress Code
Dress modestly, especially when visiting temples. Covering shoulders and knees is a sign of respect.
