Rise early to travel to the base of Uluru where you’ll receive your breakfast. Accompanied by your guide, commence the Uluru base walk at sunrise. Beginning at Kuniya Piti, a sacred site, hear the Tjukurpa (Anangu – the local Aboriginal people - beliefs and law) story of the Mala Men. Continue anticlockwise around Uluru to the Mala Walk, one of the most important habitation areas for the local Aboriginal people over thousands of years. The Mala walk includes a visit into Kantju Gorge, where 38
after rainfall, water can cascade over the side of Uluru and plunge some 90 metres. After a short rest continue to the Lungkata Walk where your guide will tell you the Tjukurpa story of the cheeky Blue Tongue Lizard! Next stop is the Mutitjulu Waterhole, once an important water source for the Anangu people. Your guide will indicate the natural features of the landscape, Aboriginal rock paintings and relay more traditional stories relating to this special place. Finally walk back to Kuniya Piti where your
walk began and board your air-conditioned coach back for the short trip back to Ayers Rock Resort.
Morning: Kata Tjuta Sunrise & Valley of the Winds (Y50)
Travel to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) where your Driver Guide will explain the geological history of the area. Enjoy a light breakfast with a tea or coffee as you watch the spectacular sunrise. Not only do you have incredible views of Kata Tjuta’s domes, but you’ll also see Uluru in the distance as the sun lights up the desert. After breakfast you’ll commence the Valley of the Winds walk. First stop is Karu Lookout. Along the way your guide will talk about the significance of the area to the Anangu people and show you
how they’ve used the natural landscape for all their needs for thousands of years. Continue down the steep rocky path to the valley at the base of the massive domes. Keep an eye and ear out for the local birds and wildlife as you make your way to Karingana Lookout for incredible views over the plain and domes. Return to Ayers Rock Resort in time for lunch.
Afternoon: Kata Tjuta Sunset (Y8)
This afternoon enjoy a leisurely drive out to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) for one of our favourite sunset experiences in Central Australia. Along the way your Driver Guide will explain the geological and cultural history of the area. Marvel at the unique flora and admire the view of the central valley of the domes of Kata Tjuta while you take in a magnificent outback sunset with canapés and Australian wine.
Afternoon: Uluru Sunset (Y11)
Travel from Ayers Rock Resort to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Enjoy nibbles and a complimentary glass of wine as the sun sinks over the western horizon and the evening sky brings out the many shades of colour for which Uluru is famous. It is recommended that you photograph Uluru every 5 minutes to really capture the gradual colour changes of the rock.
